Blur FC - the Official Blur Fan Club have just released their sixth annual CD to Fan Club members, along with issue 24 of the magazine, "Blurb". It features 2 tracks chosen by Blur drummer Dave Rowntree from unreleased material in the Blur vaults: "Won't Do It (demo)" and "Come Together (demo)" both recorded in December 1990 in preperation for their debut album sessions.
Dave Rowntree also contributes to the CD artwork, supplying photos of the band in their baggy bowl-cut era.

  Damon Albarn teamed up with top Icelandic director, actor, producer, Baltasar Kormakur to score his feature film debut, 101 Reykjavik. Einar Orn Benediktsson (Sugar Cubes) co-scored the soundtrack. Last year over 12,000 fans watched as Robbie Williams' team (including super goalie Jamie Theakston) beat Ant & Dec's team (featuring Lee from Steps and Michael Greco) in a closely fought final at Stamford Bridge. Other teams participating included 5ive, Stereophonics, Rod Stewart, Jamiroquai and Blur.

Previous winners of Soccer 6 are Apollo 440 (1995), Reef (1996), Blur (1997), James (1998), Fat Les (1999) and Robbie Williams (2000)

Soccer 6 raises awareness and funds for Capital Radio's Help A London Child charity. Since it's launch in 1975, over £10 million has been raised, and Help A London Child has become one of London's best-loved charities. 1997 saw a milestone for HALC when George Michael made the final contribution to their Easter weekend campaign, seeing them reach £1,000,000 for the first time in their history. HALC have been annual beneficiaries of The Music Industry Soccer Six since 1997.

Blur have just released a special 4 track EP to members of their Fan Club. The EP was recorded at the band's one-off gig at Camden's Electric Ballroom on 6 September 1999, where the band played a set consisting solely of b-sides. Guitarist Graham Coxon has designed the artwork specifically for the EP.

  Alex has resigned from writing his column for Q magazine after a lengthy stint, saying "I've decided to hang up my pen and concentrate on my drinking." But in the meantime, he is being photographed by David Bailey for Harpers & Queen magazine, and it is even rumoured he may start writing for H&Q !

Released 16.10.00, Music Is My Radar is a cracking slice of Voodoo Jazz and marks the beginning of a brand new direction for blur. It's available as a 2 CD set and cassette, it's backed by another brand new track Black Book plus vintage Radio 1 session tracks.

The song and (Graham Coxon's sleeve artwork) is inspired by the seminal 70's African percussionist Tony Allen, who worked alongside the late great Fela Kuti, amongst others (fact fans).

November 13th sees the release of blur: the best of on VHS and DVD. All 22 blur singles' videos from the 90's are contained here in chronological order starting with She's So High (those haircuts, those T-shirts) to the beautifully-shot "No Distance Left To Run" along with artwork and sleevenotes.
You don't have to wait until the 13th Nov to watch all 22 videos back-to-back, however there are a series of screenings happening next week to celebrate the release of the best of. Here too you can win a whole load of blur posters and exclusive merchandise as well as pre-release copies of the album.
